World Famous

We went to DelTaco for lunch. I ordered a combo with fries. I noticed that it was not their normal fries. The bag they come in says "Home of the World Famous crinkle cut fries." The counter lady said they were testing some new fries. I guess they want to be famous for something else.

We went to lunch at Wendy's and who did we find there? Two McDonald's employees. They were in the new uniforms, and had brought some of their own sauce from McD.

We has 23 people for Ted's birthday. Quite a crowd. We were at mostly one table. There were people from GTY, CGG, and TMS.

4th part 2

When we got home some of the neighbors were doing a small street show so we stayed to watch. The boys liked the loud ones best.

Fourth of July

We went to the park down the street to view the fireworks. From our back yard we can see the ones at Magic Mountain, but from the park we can see three shows! All was well till the park's huge sprinklers went off, Jay and I were able to redirect most of the flow. I was drenched.

And so vacation ends with a trip to Pick-up Stix with Pop and Nana. We don't know when they will be back to visit. This trip was great for all. The boys loved spending time with their grandparents. They will be sad in the morning when they leave.

Today we took the four mile hike through the anchient bristlecone pine forest. The boys did very well on the hike. The hike was listed as strenuous - it did not disapoint. We hiked past the oldest living things. There were trees that started growing just after the flood. The hike took about 3.5 hours. We all said we would do it again next year.

Sunday part two. After lunch we went to the top of Mammoth Mountain. The boys played in the snow, and kept us watching them to make sure they did not slide 3000 feet to the bottom. We saw a wedding party go up the lift, cake ane all. After we went on a small hike to the Fault. The we tried to go to a small stream, but the road was packed with a motocross convention. Tomorrow we plan to go boating at June Lake.

Today we went to Mono Lake to see the tufas. We had a slow hike around the lake. The boys chased the alkali flys, millions of them. We saw several ospry. One was flying with a fish in his talons. This afternoon we plan to go to the top of Mammoth Mountain.

You thought gas was expensive in Valencia (or where ever you are). In Lee Vining it was over the top. It was cheeper inside Yosemite. 

It was about 8:30pm when we came upon this view. We were amazed by all the rich colors so late in the evening. The boys only saw these mountains in pictures -- they were asleep most of the way home. He hiked them into the ground. 

We saw these deer on our way back from the Valley floor. We were going by the meadows at the perfect time. The sun was just setting and all the animals were coming to the meadow. It was like Bambi, but without the hunters. 

We made it to Yosemite. Wonderful views, great falls, beautiful drive. The boys had a great time. We did several long hikes along the river. There were some crowds, but we found some places where it was just our family. On the way home we saw several herds of deer in the meadows. We will have a restful day tomorrow.

Day 3 of vacation. We are starting to feel rested. Today we went to Bodie - 10 miles of rugged road, then 3 miles of dirt. Wonderful place, on our must see again list. Everyone found something they liked.

We hiked 2 miles up a closed road to see this view. It was well worth it. There was snow all along the road, the boys wanted to stop at every large drift. At the top there was no one but us. Very peaceful.

Day two of vacation. Inyo craters. So far everyone is well. Weather is perfect, sunny, clear, & a light breeze.

Our vacation to Mammoth begins. We were on the road at 8:35. Campbell and Cooper are packed away in the third row.

In my spare time I do HVAC repair. Not really, but I do know more about HVAC than I should. Let's talk about VAV boxes, cold decks, boilers, return air temps, and air noise.

My boss has started a most excellent blog at http://www.phillipjohnson.blogspot.com/ . This means that I must put a little more effort in keeping this blog updated. I'm hoping to post at least one update per week, plus a photo of something intersting happening in our family.

Campbell and Evan at C1's 7th birthday 

Long pause. Well we're are getting ready to go to GCC for Master's Kids Graduation. These next few weeks will be busy, as we also prepare for our Mammoth vacation. Still working on a few of photo issues, but I expect to get them solved soon.

We're rolling out several new technologies at GTY over the next few weeks, so I'll probably be very busy. Plus it's Cooper's birthday, and we have a large party planned, and we're going to Disneyland park. In my spare time I'll rest.

Yesterday was the second annual ice cream social and fire drill. Like last year I had 100% attendance. I forgot to take pictures, so the GTY social page for the event will be plain. Still looking for a way to organize digi-pix. The just get splattered accross several disks, and locations, with little hope of finding the ones I'm looking to print.

It's Sunday. After church we went to Ikea for breakfast, and purchased some chairs for our summer home. We also found some cafe chairs for the rose garden. Kerry's parents should arrive in a an hour or so. The boys are looking forward to their visit. We will problably show The Day The Earth Stood Still outside tonight. Monday should be quiet.

Well here we go again. The photo and MP3 postings will make this project even more interesting.

I'm still working on focus -- but I think I'll make this a cross between work and home.

I ran into Keifer while I was in NY -- remember to ask before you take a photograph on a public street of a public person. 

It's hard to keep up with all the things I need to do. The website I do for work is done ( see http://www.gty.org ) so that is a huge relief. Now if I could keep up my family site at http:www.fickett.net and my hobby site at http:www.starburst.org. I hope to be able to spend 2 hours a week doing both, now that I do not need to maintain the content at my work's site.
