Today was Weasel Stomping Day. We had a few friends over to share a meal, do traditional Weasel Stomping Day activities -- spreading mayonnaise on the lawn, stomping weasels, and wearing viking hats. We also all decorated a weasel themed dessert. I think that everyone had a good evening. This was the coldest WSD in recent memory, usually we are able to eat in the garden. This year we all had to eat inside. More pictures here.

On the way to church this morning we were stopped on the freeway for 20 min. while an accident was cleared from the lanes. We got soaked going from the parking lot to the church, then from the church back to the parking lot, then again from the car to my mom's house. Then when we got home, the wind had made a mess of our summer home, so I had to spend time in the rain getting it straightened out. I came in drenched, changed, then had to go back out to clear the drains.
After a change of clothes and some hot chocolate, I decided to go out and take some rain pictures. This is from the river that runs about 4 blocks from our house. It is normally a dry, dusty nothing of a river. Today it was flowing fast and wild. The national weather service says that Santa Clarita is getting rain at a rate of over 1 inch per hour. I came home drenched, and need to change again. Three pairs of pants in one day, a new record.

Campbell has an eye for the seeing things creatively, sometimes he likes to combine objects in unusual ways. At breakfast the morning that I left for India, he thought that his pancakes would be enhanced by some gummy teeth, and a santa outfit made of whipped cream. His creation end up making us all laugh, and think about zombie pancakes. Eat them before they eat you.

We went to the grand opening of our city's newest road - The Cross Valley Connector. The road was forty-five years late, but six years early -- promised by the county for 1965, but finished by the city six years ahead of the revised promised schedule. The road $249,000,000.00, not including lunch.
More pictures from our day of the Grand Opening of the Santa Clarita Cross Valley Connector here.
